Delaware River Traditional Small Craft Association

Fleet of catboats

...there is nothing — absolutely nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. -Kenneth Grahame

The Delaware River regional chapter of the The Traditional Small Craft Association (TSCA) encompasses the greater Delaware River basin. The TSCA is educational organization that works to preserve and continue the living traditions, skills, lore, and legends surrounding working and pleasure watercraft powered by paddle, oar or sail.

We are a group of designers, builders, restorers, historians, rowers, paddlers, sailors, who share a passion for messing about in traditional boats. We meet on the second Monday of each month at the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia, PA. New members are welcome.

Our monthly meetings typically feature a presentation. Topics this past year included: sailing the Dracken (Viking longship), paddle making, and a history of the canals of Pennsylvania. In the summer the group converges with their boats at various locations for some fun on the water. See the event calendar.
